Fluke Networks ending production of DTX-1800 CableAnalyzer cabling tester

June 25, 2015
The company will stop taking orders for the DTX cabling tester on June 30, but will provide parts, service and calibration support for at least three more years.

Editor’s Note: Fluke Networks has announced that service and calibration for the DTX Series will end on June 30, 2018.

Citing the successful introduction of its Versiv Cabling Certification System and the DSX-5000 CableAnalyzer, Fluke Networks announced it is ending production of the DTX-1800 CableAnalyzer cabling tester “after 11 years of service and more than a billion links certified in 92 countries,” the company said. “Fluke Networks will stop taking orders for the older DTX (pictured above) on June 30, 2015 but will continue to provide parts, service, and calibration support for at least three more years.

“During its lifecycle, the DTX achieved many industry first, such as first field tester to offer alien crosstalk testing; the first laboratory-qualified test plug for Category 6A permanent link testing; and the first fiber tester to be fully encircled flux compliant,” Fluke Networks recalled when making the end-of-life announcement. “This all translates into faster job completion, higher profits, and happier customers.”

Fluke Networks added, “Since its launch, the Versiv DSX [pictured below] has already achieved high acceptance and acclaim, with customers citing this time- and cost-savings as key reasons for making the switch.”

Dave Lawes, RCDD of Systems Tech. Inc. agreed: “With Versiv, we spend more time getting the project done and less time setting up and troubleshooting,” he said. “We’ve seen a significant decrease in missing and incorrect test reports by loading the tester with the settings and cable IDs for multiple projects before heading to the jobsite.”

The company added that the DSX model has been outselling the DTX by seven-to-one. DSX users gain access to LinkWare Live, which is a cloud-based cable-certification project-management service, Fluke Networks pointed out. “LinkWare Live streamlines workflow and provides cabling certification project status on any smart mobile device. With LinkWare Live, project managers gain more visibility and control on the jobsite, ensuring their cabling installation projects will be finished on time.”
