Network zone system connects enterprise and plant floor

July 8, 2016
Panduit says its Universal Network Zone System accommodates copper and fiber connectivity and a variety of switches, providing rapid, reliable deployment.

Panduit Corp. expanded its Network Zone System offering by launching the Universal Network Zone System, which the company says provides “rapid and reliable deployment of EtherNet/IP networks between the enterprise and plant floor with maximum design flexibility.” Panduit adds that the system meets UL 508A, Type 4/12 or 4X, IP66 and CE, and offers “improved network safety and reliability.”

Steve Timian, vice president of business development for Panduit, said “The Universal Network Zone System provides customers with the ability to implement a wide variety of switch and application requirements. Our scalable and flexible building block architecture solution saves installation time by including both copper and fiber connectivity, cable management, grounding, and power with UPS and PoE options in a single enclosure.”

Craig Resnick, vice president of analyst firm ARC Advisory Group, added, “In a market that is driving towards IT and OT [operations technology] convergence, users seek industrial network zone solutions that are flexible and agile, reduce installation and implementation time, and minimize risks, guesswork and uncertainty. These market drivers are offset by end users and OEMs losing technical expertise to retirement and downsizing, no longer having the in-house technical talent to do the system layout and design, select and purchase components, and install and troubleshoot the system. Panduit’s Universal Network Zone System addresses these market demands by providing scalable, pre-engineering, pre-designed and pre-packaged systems that are suited to a wide variety of switches and cables; are equipped with cable management systems logically designed for quick system connectivity and diagnostics, can be installed and deployed safely, reliably and quickly by less-experienced personnel; and address all appropriate power, electrical and safety standards and certifications for a wide range of applications.”
