The IBC brand cleaner family from US Conec has now been expanded to support MTP-16 connectors. The IBC MTP-16 cleaner is designed to clean all TIA-604-18 (FOCIS 18) compliant connectors. “One simple push actuation of the tool ensures that 16 (1x16) or 32 (2x16) fibers as well as the connector endface are debris free,” states the company. “The precision nozzle of the tool ensures reliable in-situ field cleaning for any plug installed into a FOCIS 18 compliant adapter. In addition, the cleaner’s protective dust cap is designed to accept FOCIS 18 compliant plugs resulting in a simple cleaning solution for cable assemblies in the field or factory.”

Neutrik fiber-optic cleaning accessories

During InfoComm 2017, Neutrik introduced its new cleaning and inspection accessory tools for the company’s opticalCON Advanced cable connectors, part numbers: FOCD-STD (DUO), FOCD-STQ (QUAD), and FOCD-STM (MTP—both 12 and 24). The user pushes one of these cleaning tools onto the front face of the opticalCON cable connector. Once this is done, the tool latches in place and holds the shutter open. Neutrik says the tool includes “holes that are perfectly sized and positioned for inserting conventional third-party cleaning tools and inspection probes.” Per the company, the newly offered tools “eliminate the need to remove the opticalCON Advanced cable connector front housing in order to access the fiber-optic ferrules. This vastly simplifies and speeds up cleaning and inspection. The tools also make the process safer; by leaving the connector’s front housing in place, the risk of inadvertent damage to the fiber is significantly reduced—making these tools a ‘must have’ for field technicians, and making the opticalCON system even more user-friendly.”

Sticklers CleanWipes 640 optical grade wipes

The Sticklers CleanWipes 640 optical-grade cleaning wipes are billed as “the latest innovation for perfectly clean splices and connectors.” Per the manufacturer, “The CleanWipes 640 wipes are ideal for cleaning fibers before fusion splicing and for cleaning connector endfaces. A protective plastic outer box keeps the wipes dry and clean until you need them. When used with Sticklers Fiber Optic Splice and Connector Cleaner, the CleanWipes 640 provide excellent results. The inner box features eight colored CleanSwipe slots using the TIA-598-D color code to enable multiple cleanings while avoiding using the wipe section twice.
