Web seminar discusses cabling, connectivity for AV

Aug. 6, 2014
From connector and transmission styles to cable management and the power of fiber optics, a one-hour seminar discusses several aspects of AV infrastructure.

A seminar that will be delivered via the web live on August 21 will explore several aspects of the cabling and connectivity associated with audio/video (AV) systems and transmission. Hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, the seminar titled “Audio-Video System Technologies, Infrastructure and Design” will broadcast live at 1pm EDT on August 21. It then will be available for on-demand viewing for six months. The seminar will run for approximately 60 to 75 minutes, including a question-and-answer session with presenters.

When describing the seminar’s concept, Cabling Installation & Maintenance said, “Planning and implementing the cabling infrastructure for AV systems has both similarities to and differences from Ethernet-based network project planning and deployment. From bandwidth and distance requirements to outlet placement and media options, the same principles apply to both network types, but the specifics can vary greatly. This webcast seminar focuses on AV system infrastructure deployment and the considerations that designers, installers and end-users must make when planning such a project.”

The seminar’s presentation themes and presenters are as follows.

  • The Many Interfaces of AV—Presented by Hubbell Premise Wiring senior product manager Nate Herring
  • Managing the Connections—Presented by FSR senior sales engineer George V. Fournier Jr.
  • Fiber as an AV Medium—Presented by Optical Cables by Corning director of emerging applications Mark Bradley

Attendees who view the seminar in its entirety can receive one continuing education credit (CEC) toward BICSI’s ITS professional credentials.
