Google seeking data center control systems staff engineer

Google is looking for someone to provide technical protocols and industrial automation processes to manage and organize all critical field system operational data, and to provide critical data related to PUE, water efficiency, trends, and management summaries at a regular interval.

In a recent job posting, Google announced that it is currently searching to fill the position of data center control systems staff engineer at the company's Mountain View, CA headquarters. Key responsibilities for the job, according to the posting, include the following:

-- Provide technical support to engineering, construction and operations in resolving all of the critical electrical controls related issues, including system level design and sequences of operation, PLC and SCADA systems code test, development and production, procurement and vendor management and construction.

-- Provide technical protocols and industrial automation processes to manage and organize all of the critical field system operational data and provide critical data related to PUE, water efficiency, trends, and management summaries at a regular interval.

-- Provide technical interfaces of network related protocols to vendors, consultants, and internal teams to enable remote data access and collection.

-- Maintain and manage changes of all controls and monitoring system design requirements and interface documents, including network design to meet very stringent security requirements, while ensuring highly available systems.

-- Develop and maintain strong functional relationships across multidisciplinary teams to anticipate future controls and monitoring design requirements.

Google says its minimum qualifications for the position include the following: 10 years of experience in the design and operation of mission critical facilities; experience in large scale facility power and cooling related infrastructural systems for data centers or equivalent critical infrastructure, including PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial automation and controls systems design; and experience in support of critical mechanical controls, including BMS architecture, protocols and hardware.
