RF power combiners support broadband applications up to 6 GHz

Pasternack Enterprises has unveiled its 2-way and 4-way broadband RF power combiners.

Pasternack Enterprises, a manufacturer and supplier of RF, microwave and millimeter wave products, announced that it has introduced "a completely new line" of broadband RF power combiners.

Pasternack says the broad bandwidth of the new power combiners (up to 6 GHz) makes them the perfect complement to systems using components such as power amplifiers, antenna feeds, attenuators and switches. A special area of usage for the power combiners is in combining individual power amplifiers together into a large power block in an amplifier system, add the company. The new RF power combiners from Pasternack are offered in common 2-way and 4-way configurations, deliver high power up to 600 Watts, and operate over a broad temperature range of 55°C to 85°C, expanding the versatility of the product offering to a range of military and commercial applications.

According to Pasternack, the new broadband RF combiners offer frequency ranges from 20 MHz to 6 GHz, low insertion loss from 0.35 dB to 1 dB and low VSWR up to 1.30:1. Other features of the power combiners include excellent amplitude and phase balance, high power handling, good isolation levels and rugged packaging. RF power combiners are devices that combine or sum a number of RF input signals to a common output, while maintaining the characteristic impedance of the inputs. As systems become more complex, choosing how best to combine two or more RF signals has become a far more difficult question to answer, notes Pasternack, especially when high power and wide bandwidth are involved.

“With the addition of our new power combiners, we continue to expand our offering of solutions necessary to be our customers’ one-stop-shop for the complete component requirements of the RF system,” says Michael Rachlin, director of product management at Pasternack.

Pasternack emphasizes that the RF combiners offer low loss and low VSWR, while providing competitive port-to-port isolation through the use of high power resistive components. The new RF signal combiners are designed to be screw-down mounted to a heatsink. All of the new broadband, high power RF power combiners are in-stock and available to ship from Pasternack today.
