Outdoor transceiver drives long-range Ethernet over coax or Cat 5e cabling

New unit from Altronix supports PoE/PoE+ at longer distances.

Altronix (Brooklyn, NY) has expanded its eBridge Ethernet over Coax product line with the introduction of its eBridge200WPM transceiver, designed for rugged outdoor use. The new unit transmits IP video/data and power over coaxial cabling up to 300m or Cat 5e cabling up to 500m without repeaters.

The eBridge200WPM is Hi-PoE (60W) as well as PoE/PoE+ -compliant and supports cameras/edge devices beyond the standard 100m distance, says the company. “This new addition to the Altronix line of networked transmission solutions with long range Ethernet capabilities provides greater system flexibility for outdoor applications,” comments Alan Forman, president, Altronix.

According to the company, the eBridge200WPM can support a single Hi-PoE (60W) camera/device or two PoE/PoE+ cameras/devices at 100Mbps full duplex. It also offers built-in IP management which allows for remote camera reset, monitoring and reporting via various IP protocols, as well as system event reporting via email and SNMP trap message notifications.

When utilizing the Altronix eBridge100SPR receiver for coax applications or a Pace1PRD for Cat 5e applications, power is injected up the cable, eliminating the need for a local high voltage power source. The eBridge200WPM is housed in a lightweight IP66-NEMA4/4x rated enclosure, UL listed in the U.S. and Canada and CE approved.
