Black Box announced that is now offering free samples of its Cat 6 patch cables with optional security locking pins.

The company's GigaTrue Cat 6A and Cat 6 and GigaBase Cat 5e families of high-performance patch cables deliver bandwidth beyond TIA standards from 350-MHz to 650-MHz. The Cat 6A versions of the cables are part of the Black Box ETL verified channel solution; all versions are guaranteed for life.

The cables give users three levels of built-in Layer 1 security, depending on the use of the optional locking pin feature.

According to Black Box, the red locking pin requires a tool for removal and is used to prevent unauthorized access and tampering. The green secure pin holds cables in place and prevents accidental disconnects, and is released via built-in butterfly tabs. When no pin is used, the company's patented hard-polymer LockPORT boot protects the connector and cable bend radius for everyday network connections.

The free sample kit being offered includes one 3-ft Cat 6 patch cable, one red locking pin, one green secure pin, and one locking pin removal tool. To request a free sample, visit blackbox.com/CableSample.

The patch cables with security locking pins are designed for protecting connectivity in high-value applications, or any application where connectivity is costly to repair or trouble-shoot. For more information about these high-performance cables, visit www.blackbox.com/3Series.
