September 2, 2009 -- Total Cable Solutions (TCS) has released a line of singlemode macrobend/high bend radius patch cables that employ Corning's SMF28e XB fiber for improved bend performance over standard singlemode fiber. Corning's SMF28e XB is a full-spectrum singlemode fiber compliant with ITU-TG.652.D and G.657.A standards.

"This new product has a minimum bend radius of only 10 mm, which is truly outstanding," comments Rob Esau, CEO of NextGig Systems, a TCS premier reseller partner. "Even when installers take their time and do a superior installation, there are times where they are forced to bend cable past its capabilities, which increases signal loss. The result can cause decreased network performance or even worse, network down time. Corning SMF28e XB cable is designed to increase signal integrity, reducing possible network failures."

The bend insensitive fiber is especially targeted toward FTTH network installations. High bend radius patch cables options are as follows: Termination: LC, SC, ST, FC; Polishes: APC, UPC; Jacket Thickness: 2 mm, 3 mm.
