DuPont develops new resin for LAN, coax wires and cables

DuPont has introduced a new Teflon fluoropolymer foam resin, based on its Airquick technology, for insulation or jacketing of LAN and coaxial cabling. According to DuPont, the new products offer the potential for lightweight, high-performance cabling used in high frequency signal transmission.

The resins comes in four different grades: FFR 330 foam resins for coaxial cables with heavy wall applications; FFR for medium size coaxial cables; FFR 750for rigid and semi-rigid high frequency coaxial cables; and FFR 750 for thin- and ultra-thin walled high frequency data and micro-coax cables.

“This new category of fluoropolymer foam resin will also simplify product comparisons, ease product grade selection and create a distinct technology platform,” says Robert D Smith, the company's global business manager for melt fluoropolymers.

DuPont is showing the fluoropolymer foam resins at the Wire 2010 show in Dusseldorf, Germany, 12-16 April. Along with the exhibits, the company is organizing seminars on how customers can introduce the new products.
