A seminar to be delivered online September 29 will provide detail on some of the latest cabling-standards activities to come out of the Telecommunications Industry Association's TR-42 Committee.
Presentations that will be delivered during the seminar will include, "Standard-compliant patch cords," "TSB-190: Shared pathways and sheaths," and "TIA-758-B, the revised Outside Plant Cabling Standard."
Speakers will include Harley Lang III, marketing manager with Fluke Networks (discussing patch-cord compliance), Brian Ensign, director of training and technology with Legrand Ortronics (detailing the TSB-190 specification), and Tim West, director of engineering services with Superior Essex (providing detail on TIA-758-B).
A description of the seminar includes the following information about TSB-190: "The TR-42.7 Subcommittee developed TSB-190 to address the extent to which cabling performance is affected by having multiple applications operate over different cable categories, or different cable constructions, within a single pathway. One common question, among others, answered by TSB-190 is, 'Can I place Category 6A cables from different manufacturers in the same pathway?' This presentation answers that and other questions by detailing the practices spelled out in TSB-190."
The seminar is expected to last between 60 and 75 minutes. Individuals who attend the seminar in its entirety will be eliglble to receive one continuing education credit (CEC) for BICSI's RCDD, Installer, Technician, RITP or Certified Trainer designation. After the seminar is broadcast live on September 29, it will be available on-demand for six months.
