Integrated IP video surveillance and access control systems developer Vicon Industries has introduced the Surveyor-Mini, a vandal-proof IP-66 (i.e. weather-proof) network PTZ camera dome, capable of producing day and night video imaging with 10X optical zoom capacity. The company says this smaller-profile addition to its main SurveyorVFT line more cost-effectively delivers levels of performance appropriate for use in most indoor and many outdoor applications that require a PTZ dome.  The Surveyor-Mini offers either M-JPEG or H.264 compression; H.264 allows the unit to deliver high-quality video while minimizing impact on the network. All models make use of digital noise reduction technology, resulting in a clear and sharp image display even in the dark, and provide 360 degree pan/tilt rotation and 64 programmable presets. A variety of mounting options are available. The cameras will begin shipping in March 2010.
