Panduit and Microtest announce alliance

Oct 1, 2001

In today's competitive structured cabling marketplace, sometimes companies choose to work together to get the job done. Microtest Inc. (www.microtest. com), a manufacturer of network test and measurement products, and Panduit Corp. (www.panduit.com), a manufacturer of network connectivity solutions, have formed a strategic alliance. The non-exclusive arrangement between the companies is focused on enhancing marketing and service to the structured cabling industry.

Both companies will be closely cooperating at trade shows, seminars, and educational forums. Panduit and Microtest will provide technical assistance to each other and support each other in key account situations.

"By working more closely with Microtest, Panduit will be in a better position to serve our customers with complete solutions. Their testing leadership and user base make them a natural partner," says Andrew Caveney, global marketing manager, Panduit Corp. Through cross-training, the alliance hopes that customer service agents at each company will be in a better position to provide information on a range of available services.

"We've already cooperated often to make hallmark Category 6 installations and this alliance is a framework for increasing our success together," says David Coffin, vice president and general manager, Microtest Inc.

Panduit will use the Microtest OMNIScanner 2 in its installer training classes and will demonstrate it to its system integrator force. Microtest will demonstrate advanced Category 6 systems using a Panduit channel solution and will use Panduit products in training classes and seminars worldwide.

This announcement comes shortly after Fluke Networks acquired Microtest. Panduit has also recently announced strategic alliances with Cisco Systems and Belden Inc.
