Oberon names R. Douglas Schultz CTO

Aug 4, 2011

R. Douglas Schultz, most recently president and chief executive officer of Indian River Silicon, has been named chief technology officer of wirless equipment provider Oberon Inc. Scott Thompson, Oberon's president and chief engineer, made the announcement of Schultz's appointment.

In his role as CTO, Schultz will focus on new product design, implementation and standards compliance. The appointment will allow Thompson to remain focused on customer relations and satisfaction, product and delivery quality, and order fulfillment, the company said.

Schultz will lead the development of new products, Thompson said, bringing an undivided focus to the evolving needs of the networking industry. Schultz has more than 30 years of experience in the communications and semiconductor industry and is a named inventor on more than 10 granted or pending patents. Schultz's previous company, Indian River Silicon, was a Melbourne, Florida-based developer of system-on-chip solutions for 802.11 wireless LAN and Bluetooth markets. Prior to his role at Indian River Silicon, Schultz was vice president of engineering in Conexant Systems' wireless networking group. He earlier founded Integrated RF Solutions.

He commented, "Oberon's record of growth is a testament to the company's commitment to providing high-quality networking products to meet evolving industry needs. We know that demand for wireless networking services is projected to increase exponentially over the next five years, and I look forward to helping our clients thrive in the face of new challenges."
