Cable fault locator uses TDR technology

Aug 24, 2010

Toronto, Canada -- GAO Instruments has introduced a cable fault locator using TDR [time domain reflectometer] technology, intended for use in communication maintenance and integrated cabling applications.

The company's Model A0300025 locator performs fault distance location, pulse testing, cable line fault testing, wave shape comparison and data record testing. It also tests the line for breaks and shorts, circuit faults on twisted-pair cable, data cable, electric power cable and coaxial cable.

The unit automatically locates fault distance without manual intervention. Measurement range is from 1 to 6000m; calibrated measurement distances are 50m, 100m, 200m, 800m, 1600m, 3000m and 6000m. The locator features a large LCD screen, simple operation, automatic resolution test, low voltage warning, auto power-off and a fast sampling speed of 500MHz.

A rechargeable Li-battery is provided with the cable fault locator, enabling it to works continuously for 12 hours on a single charge. Visit http://www.gaoinstruments.com for more information.
