Beacon Solutions wins $1.8M bid to supply cabling infrastructure for existing Fortune 50 pharma client

Oct 6, 2011

Beacon Enterprise Solutions Group, Inc., a specialist in the design, implementation and management of high performance Information Technology Systems (ITS) infrastructure, announced the signing of an additional contract to provide fiber-optic cabling and power supply infrastructure to an existing Fortune 50 pharmaceutical client.

According to a press release, on September 14, Beacon announced a $500,000 project to provide fiber-optic cabling for this long-term client in one of its US locations. Beacon has now signed an additional contract engagement worth an estimated $1,330,000, totaling $1,830,000 in newly signed ITS infrastructure business in the past 3 weeks.

Both engagements arose from Beacon's sales and contract award process, said the company, whereby Beacon will be engaged to provide infrastructure assessment and design/engineering and ITS construction management, all within Beacon's core services suite. Under this new engagement, Beacon will perform an assessment of existing site conditions, design a solution and install fiber-optic cables and related power supply requirements in a corporate campus environment for one US and two Canadian locations.

As with any new infrastructure installed under an ITS management agreement, the work includes post-installation to manage the client's network infrastructure to ensure scalability and network performance in compliance with the client's design requirements and standards.

"As I mentioned in our announcement for a similar project on September 14, this is now the third contract award since July in our Pharma Division - our existing clients seem to be turning the corner and releasing ITS budget dollars for projects that have been in discussion for a while," stated Jerry Bowman, President and COO of Beacon.

Bowman added, "We are excited to see these positive indicators as we move into fiscal year 2012, as the trend is shaping up for clients to focus on improvements to their ITS infrastructure in support of organic growth, mergers and acquisitions and consolidated operations. Technology doesn't stand still for economic downturns. Applications, content driven capabilities and network performance will continue to push enterprise IT and facilities managers to upgrade existing, and install new infrastructure sooner rather than later."

"A solutions-based business requires that we continually adapt to client needs. One size does not fit all. This contract award is indicative of our enhanced services approach to major clients and projects. Beacon has become easier to do business with through our approach to unbundle key services, modifying the scope of major projects and proposals, and in general adapting to client-driven changes," added Bruce Widener, CEO and Chairman of Beacon.

Widener continued, "As fiscal budgets became constrained, we found creative ways to work within the client's budget to move ITS projects forward. I am pleased with our sales efforts to grow organically and expect to continue to see the trend of Beacon being awarded projects that we have worked on in the past year."
