November 21, 2007 -- As part of a recent company-wide re-branding program, Leviton Manufacturing has renamed its Voice and Data business unit to "Leviton Network Solutions."
The company maintains that the new name reflects the wide range of products and applications for which the business unit is responsible, including copper and fiber-based network infrastructure; power solutions including surge and UPS products, a new line of power distribution units, and data center products and services.
"We have greatly expanded our product set and capabilities over the past two years," comments Ross Goldman, vice president and general manager of the Network Solutions business unit. "As we approach 20 years in the premise wiring industry we needed to recognize our growing scope beyond physical layer connectivity that includes power quality and power distribution products, data center products, cable management and wireless solutions."
Online PDU product selector, expanded UPS line
Seperately, the company has developed what it bills as "a simple and intuitive way" for customers to select the Leviton Power Distribution Unit (PDU) that best suits their particular needs and applications.
The company's online PDU selector is located on the Leviton Network Solutions Website and allows customers to choose from 40 different Leviton PDUs.
The product selector allows customers to choose specific PDU features by pointing and clicking on individual categories including PDU type, configuration, input voltage, input amperage, and input plug type.

Also, the company has introduced an expanded Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) product line, with 9 new models in its Pro, Sine and Online Series product families.
According to the company, the product line has been enhanced to include models with additional VA power capacities and expanded features that meet the needs of a broader spectrum of customer applications.
"With these recent changes to our UPS line we've really focused on the 300 to 3000 VA range, and ensuring that we can support the various performance levels, feature requirements and price points that our customers need," comments Dean Lipke, senior product manager for Leviton's Power Solutions group. "Some of our customers have asked for cost-effective UPS systems with more outlets and a USB interface. Others, with more demanding applications, have asked for remote UPS monitoring, more VA options and high-density footprints. Leviton's UPS line now meets all of those requirements."
