Legrand-Ortronics attains ISO 14001 environmental certification

Jan 18, 2010

New London, CT -- Legrand-Ortronics, a provider of high performance network infrastructure solutions, announced that it has furthered its commitment to the protection of the environment through ISO 14001 Certification at its New London, CT corporate office. Legrand-Ortronics joins four additional Legrand facilities in North America to receive the certification. ISO 14001 is an important global distinction that signifies an organization’s commitment to continuous improvement of their environmental performance.

ISO 14001 Certification is granted upon the successful implementation and maintenance of an Environmental Management System that ensures that an organization has established, implemented, maintained and framed a process for improvement upon an environmental management system, to assure itself of conformity with its stated environmental policy. ISO 14001 Certification is granted on the successful completion of an external audit of the organization’s Environmental Management System by a third party auditor.

In an effort to acknowledge their global responsibility for the environment, Legrand-Ortronics has developed a corporate mission, founded on three main pillars: prevention of pollution, compliance to all regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement.

“Ortronics is dedicated to the continued integration of sustainable practices into our business processes to remain environmentally responsible while helping our customers do the same,” said Mark Panico, President, Legrand-Ortronics. “ISO 14001 Certification has taken a strong commitment companywide to implement and is a tremendous accomplishment for Ortronics.”

In addition to ensuring that Ortronics maintains high environmental standards, the company is also committed to transferring those standards into the solutions they offer. Smart manufacturing processes, thoughtful supplier choices, and innovative product offerings focused on driving energy efficiency are a cornerstone of the Ortronics mission to help customers achieve their “green” agenda, maintains the company.
