BICSI, CSI sign honorary agreement

Apr 16, 2009

April 16, 2009--BICSI, the association supporting the information transport systems (ITS) industry with information, education and knowledge assessment, has signed an honorary friendship agreement with Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) to promote further growth and development of the ITS and telecommunications industries.

The two organizations plan to engage in a variety of cooperative activities including:
* Exchanging visits and views between the members of the two entities to promote a qualified and skilled work force, to consider regulatory issues of common importance, and to further the development of the telecommunications industries worldwide;
* Maintaining a regular exchange of newsletters and other information to ensure each is informed of the other's key concerns and activities;
* Encouraging the members of each association to exhibit or participate in the telecommunications exhibitions or seminars sponsored by the other association;
* Stimulating consultations and discussions by and between the members of the two associations with regard to possible cooperative activities; and pursuing such other cooperative activities as may be necessary and appropriate.

"Strategically, BICSI is in the process of developing unique, relevant, and dynamic professional communities around the world, allowing us to advance the knowledge and success of our members and the ITS industry," says BICSI President Ed Donelan, RCDD. "This partnership is a vital step forward in connecting the ITS and telecommunications construction industries, providing valuable benefits to the members of both organizations."

CSI President Gilman Hu adds, "Telecommunications systems have become an increasingly important component of today's commercial and institutional buildings, connecting the world like never before. CSI recognized this trend in developing MasterFormat 2004 Edition, which includes a separate division for communications ? Division 27. We look forward to cooperating with BICSI on advancing the telecommunications industries and working together on mutual interests."

BICSI previously signed similar friendship agreements with InfoComm in 2005, TIA in 2006 and 2008, and NBFAA in 2009.
