MicroCare earns ISO certification

Apr 28, 2009

April 28, 2009--MicroCare Corp., developer of FiberCare cleaners for fiber-optics, has been certified to the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard. This certification indicates MicroCare is in compliance with the internationally-accepted standards for quality. It assures customers that MicroCare products and services are developed, engineered, manufactured and delivered using the latest in quality management processes.

While all ISO 9001 registered companies eventually will migrate to the new guidelines, MicroCare says it has made a deliberate effort to become registered as quickly as possible after the newest requirements were defined.

"Our customers consider ISO certification vital because their products are used in unforgiving, mission-critical applications," says Jay Tourigny, MicroCare vice president. "Early certification reinforces the undisputed fact that MicroCare maintains a state-of-the-art quality system."

The new ISO quality standard, ISO 9001:2008, was published in November 2008. All companies with ISO 9001:2000 certificates have until November 2010 to become registered with the new standard. Among the hundreds of improvements, the new standard includes guidance on the manner in which ISO processes apply to out-sourced work, and confirms that "conformity to requirements" is the joint responsibility of the technician who directly builds the product and also of indirect contributions from other individuals.
