BICSI elects new officers, including future president

Oct 16, 2009

October 16, 2009 – Jerry Bowman, RCDD/NTS has been selected by BICSI’s membership as the association’s president-elect. He will assume that role in January, 2010 at the association’s annual winter conference.

Bowman was one of five officers elected in BICSI’s recent election process. Also beginning or continuing as BICSI officers in January 2010 will be: Robert S. Erickson, RCDD/NTS/OSP/WD, newly elected treasurer; Brian S. Ensign, RCDD/NTS/OSP/CSI, re-elected U.S. Northeast Region director; Chris Scharrer, RCDD/NTS/OSP/WD, newly U.S. North-Central Region director; and Rita Recalcati, newly elected European Region director.

“The BICSI nominating committee is pleased to see the results of the election and especially encouraged to see the increase in membership voting participation,” said Edward Donelan, RCDD/ESS/NTS, BICSI’s president. “The nominating committee is committed to improving the election process and will be enhancing next year’s election process in several ways. We want to thank all of the self-nominating candidates for stepping forward and volunteering to run for a board position. On behalf of the board of directors we welcome the incoming board members and look forward to working together to improve BICSI for the members’ benefit.”

Bowman has been a BICSI member since 1997 and currently is serving his second term as North-Central Region director. He chairs BICSI’s NxtGen Committee. He says he plans to spend his next four years on the board—two as president-elect and two as president—advancing the organization into a new era of convergence and globalization by focusing on members’ needs, technological advances, and the information-transport systems (ITS) market evolution. Bowman is currently senior vice president of global services for Beacon Solutions in Cincinnati, OH.

Erickson, a BICSI member since 1990, has chaired its Registration and Specialties Supervisory Committee since 1996. He pledges that as treasurer he will continue BICSI’s financial strength and stability. He owns and operates Communications Network Design in Haysville, KS.

Ensign, a BICSI member since 1996, will focus his second term as Northeast Region director on enhancing region meetings, driving membership, and supporting BICSI programs. He currently serves as director of training and technology at Legrand North America. He is based out of York, PA.

Scharrer has been a BICSI member since 1993 and a subject matter expert team leader on the Technical Information and Methods Committee since 2004. He chaired the Network Design Reference Manual subcommittee for the 6th edition, and is currently working on the manual’s 7th edition. Scharrer will focus on developing new programs that serve the needs of BICSI’s membership while working to redefine or retire those that are outdated. He is currently an independent consultant at DCS Technology Design, LLC, in Chelsea, MI.

Recalcati has been a BICSI member since 2003, currently serving as Italy’s country chair and previously holding the position of interim European Region director. She will work in the region to expand BICSI’s presence outside the United States. Recalcati is Anixter’s program marketing manager for the Europe Middle-East Africa region, focusing primarily on fiber-optic programs.
