May 7, 2009 -- SCG Services LLC, a Tier 4 carrier-neutral "green" data center, announced that it will be adding 27,000 square feet of space to its Columbus, Ohio facility. The expansion will bring the total size of SCG Services to approximately 37,800 square feet on its 78,000 square-foot, five-acre campus on Scherers Court, near the northern edge of Franklin County, Ohio. According to the company, the expansion is to further accommodate the rapidly growing regional, national and global demand for Tier IV data center services.
"Our unique location provides customers with access to the region's primary telecom, cable and IP carriers as well as the area's fiber networks," comments Gordon Scherer, founder and president of SCG Services. "This allows us to provide a true carrier-neutral location that no other area provider comes close to matching. It also means that customers can select and connect with the carriers of their choosing, regardless of who their current provider may be. SCG also boasts power capabilities well above typical data center levels even within the Tier IV market."
Mr. Scherer points out that its carrier-neutral, power-heavy Tier IV data center location provides SCG customers a competitive advantage for global business growth, while attracting companies worldwide to Ohio, where they can provide cost effective internet-based services to North America. The expansion strengthens SCG's position as a leading data center in the Midwest, offering a state-of-the-art location for mission-critical computing equipment, disaster recovery solutions, and network infrastructure.
Utilizing its Tier IV engineering and design efficiency, with LEED credits being included in the data center expansion, the addition will include 21,000 square feet of incremental raised floor space, as well as interior space for generator bays, infrastructure equipment, and a new atrium. "Not only are ultra efficient chillers being used to minimize energy costs," Mr. Scherer continues. "But the recaptured heat from the data center will actually warm all of the generator bays, warehouse areas and non-data center space. Not even heat will go to waste."
Mr. Scherer reiterates that the expansion, scheduled for completion by the end of 2009, is to accommodate growth anticipated for later this year and into the next. "Until then," he emphasizes, "We have space available for clients to set up and expand their operations immediately."
