ADC, APC to offer integrated Cisco data center platforms

Jun 22, 2009

June 22, 2009 -- ADC, a supplier of copper and fiber connectivity and cable management infrastructure platforms, announced that it and APC by Schneider Electric, a supplier of integrated critical power and cooling services, have teamed to provide integrated Cisco-centered platforms for complex data center environments.

Based on the strategic partnership agreement entered into between ADC and APC in July 2008, the two companies have collaborated to simplify data center design decisions and ease the installation process of new equipment. The result is the ADC-APC Integrated Cisco Data Center Solutions line which the companies say provides managed density, best-in-class connectivity and cable management, optimal cooling for Cisco side-ventilating switches, and a feature-rich enclosure for speed of deployment around three Cisco active platforms.

The ADC-APC Integrated Cisco Data Center Solutions portfolio offers the following in-cabinet platforms for three of Cisco's switches: the TrueNet/NetShelter MDS 9513 System; the TrueNet/NetShelter MDS 9509 System; and the TrueNet/NetShelter Catalyst 6509 System. The companies say the joint platforms address high density connectivity and management needs, as well as, power and cooling solutions required by data centers.

"With the increasing demand for bandwidth and storage requirements, data centers face growing challenges such as density, reliability and scalability, and rising power consumption," comments Jaxon Lang, vice president of Global Connectivity Solutions, Americas for ADC. "The ADC-APC combined Cisco-centered solutions are designed to address these issues efficiently and cost-effectively by leveraging both companies' strengths in the industry."

"Our work with ADC has allowed us to provide a best in class solution to a real customer need," adds Joe Kramer, general manager, rack systems at APC. "We are seeing more and more data centers with Cisco data center switches in the server row. By completely separating the hot and cold air return path, our unique solution allows these switches to utilize the cooling best practice of hot aisle/cold aisle separation to achieve increased energy efficiency."

The ADC-APC solutions will be showcased at the Cisco Live 2009 event, June 27-July 2, at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
