Black Box scores major healthcare telecom, IT infrastructure contract

Aug 3, 2009

August 3, 2009 -- Black Box announced that it has been awarded a telecommunications and data infrastructure services and technology product agreement from Premier Purchasing Partners, LP., the group purchasing unit of Premier, Inc.

The agreement, which became effective May 1, 2009, is available to acute care and continuum of care members of the Premier healthcare alliance. Under the agreement, Black Box Network Services will provide voice communications, data infrastructure, and technology products to the Premier healthcare alliance and its members.

The Premier healthcare alliance is comprised of more than 2,100 U.S. hospitals and 58,000 healthcare sites working together to improve healthcare quality and affordability. Premier works with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services and the United Kingdom's Health Service North West to improve hospital performance. Hospitals and healthcare sites can save significant costs simply by converting to Premier contracts for supplies.

Communications services offered by Black Box include traditional telephony, voice over IP, unified communications, mobility, and maintenance services. Infrastructure offerings include start-to-finish services for new data infrastructure installations and systems upgrades as well as structured cabling, data centers, data networking, wired and wireless networks, CATV and video systems, and digital signage.

Premier healthcare alliance members can also procure more than 16,000 technology products in numerous categories, including cabling, cabinets and racks, digital signage and multimedia, networking, KVM, testers and tools, peripheral switching and sharing, data communications, environmental monitoring and control, and power and surge protection.

"By providing comprehensive communications and infrastructure solutions to Premier healthcare alliance members through the new agreement, Black Box can help hospitals and other healthcare sites reduce operating and procurement costs and improve services," comments Terry Blakemore, president and CEO of Black Box. "We are honored to be awarded the agreement and look forward to working with the Premier members."
