Ethernet Alliance targets 40-, 100- Gigabit Ethernet

August 26, 2009 -- The Ethernet Alliance announced that it will be holding a Technology Exploration Forum on 40- and 100-Gigabit Ethernet topics. From 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 15, at the TechMart Network Meeting Center in Santa Clara, California, end users, system vendors and component vendors are invited to the industry event, entitled "Life after IEEE P802.3ba."

The forum will provide an outlet for discussion surrounding the future networking demands for the adoption and deployment of higher speed Ethernet technologies. Industry experts from companies such as Facebook, Google, Nanoelectronics Research Institute (NeRI), and Lawrence Berkeley Labs are scheduled to present on Ethernet market needs and trends.

Attendees will learn about the latest developments and proposals for exploring technical issues and will have a chance to discuss these topics with fellow participants. Afterward, forum guests are invited to gather at an informal social networking event to continue further discussion and investigate collaboration opportunities.

The forum is open to both Ethernet Alliance members and non-members and is intended for: design, software, and test engineers; communications specialists; hardware and software designers; field technicians; telecom service providers; military and government installations; venture capitalists; system analysts and engineers; high-performance computing specialists; embedded system designers; applications engineers; engineering managers; solution providers and consultants; VARs, OEMs, and system integrators; telecom hardware and software specialists; design services companies; marketing and product managers; and universities and research institutes.
