Chief debuts audio visual network connectivity system for classrooms

Aug 25, 2010

Minneapolis, MN -- Chief announced that it is now shipping its CoPilot audio visual room system, an AV network platform aimed at academic users. The company says the platform is based upon extensive market-driven research and direct input from system integrators.

Billed as easy to install, user-friendly and fully upgradeable, the CoPilot audio system includes high-performance 5-1/4-inch plenum speakers, professional-grade cabling and RF wireless technology to provide high quality sound without the interference issues of an IR system. A second, handheld microphone is also included to facilitate student participation, and ADA-compliant assisted listening receivers can be connected for individual student use, creating a better learning environment for children with hearing loss or learning disabilities.

S-Video input, VGA monitor output, and a second VGA input to accommodate another PC are found within the system’s video module. Fast installation is aided by the system’s ability to be integrated within standard dual-gang boxes. At the CoPilot control module, a Cat 5e interface is used along with a single power supply that feeds all system modules without a need for special cabling. Users have the option of controlling the system through an LED-lit in-wall panel, or a matching IR remote. PA/intercom override has been made part of the package as well, along with provisions for fire alarm override.

Systems are outfitted with proprietary mounting hardware and related accessories, offering various options for suspended ceiling projectors, short-throw projectors, flat panel TVs, and other wall-mounted multimedia equipment. The platform is driven by its own free proprietary software. Providing centralized network control and monitoring of CoPilot systems, the software can be accessed via a Web browser.

Expanding upon standards established by other modular classroom AV network systems, CoPilot is suited for K-12 schools. For more information, go to www.chiefmfg.com.
