Online seminar studies 10G connectivity

Jan 6, 2012

A seminar that will be delivered via the web on Thursday, January 19 will focus on the connection and interconnection options available for 10-Gbit/sec transmission speeds. Entitled "Resolving the Evolving 10G Interconnect," the seminar will be delivered by Omnitron Systems Technologies' Ty Estes, director of marketing communications and Steven Olen, director of technical marketing.

The seminar will be hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance. A description of the seminar on the Cabling Installation & Maintenance website describes it as follows: "10G is a natural progression to accommodate the bandwidth required for today's data center. Different 10G interface standards and media solutions are available, resulting in a mixed I/O environment. This solutions-oriented webinar will review the strengths and practical applications of different 10G interfaces, and the technology available to interconnect disparate interfaces and cabling media.

"10G over CWDM will also be presented, showing how to connect different physical interfaces to CWDM equipment to increase fiber network capacity. Industry data will be used to predict which interfaces will be phased out, and which will be adopted in the coming years."

After its live presentation on the 19th, the seminar will be available on-demand for six months. Individuals who attend the seminar in its entirety, live or on-demand, are eligible to receive one continuing education credit (CEC) toward the following BICSI professional credentials: RCDD, Installer, Technician, RITP and Certified Trainer.

You can find more information on the seminar here or register for it here.
