Panduit launches advisory services for end users

Dec 16, 2010

Panduit Corporation has introduced Panduit Advisory Services, a business unit that provides clients with lifecycle services for physical infrastructures that the company says maximizes performance with a focus on optimal speed, space, power and cooling. It is based on Panduit's Unified Physical Infrastructure (UPI) approach. The company says the new set of services addresses enterprise needs across multiple business and technology domains, including communications, computing, control, security and power.

The company's chief executive officer John Caveney said, "For many decades Panduit has been a trusted physical infrastructure advisor to our clients and partners around the world. As the physical infrastructure becomes more and more relevant to support new technologies, drive operational efficiencies and enhance reliability of mission-critical applications, our clients and partners are increasing their requests for our expertise. The formation of this services group allows us to formally meet these requests and continues ouf 50-plus-year commitment to our clients." The services program will be delivered by Panduit's partner ecosystem, the compay says.

The growing interdependency of systems in and between data centers, facilities and the factory floor creates risks surrounding availability, security and convergence, Panduit explained when it announced the launch of this program. Trends in virtualization, cloud computing and next-generation architectures increase the demands that these systems place on the physical infrastructure. Panduit Advisory Services takes a holistic view of the enterprise by using its UPI methodology, which aligns the physical infrastructure to the logical layer of the network to drive operational and financial advantages. Through this unified approach, Panduit Advisory Services address client needs and the growing complexities related to energy conservation, thermal management, resource management and cost optimization.

"This alignment allows businesses to improve reliability, reduce costs, heighten agility, and support sustainability initatives," said Paul Kopera, vice president of Panduit Advisory Services. "Our solutions portfolio offers the necessary services, software and products to connect, manage and automate these critical systems and supporting infrastructure for a reliable business foundation."

In tandem with its business partners, Panduit Advisory Services will assess and analyze current data center physical infrastructure - using its UPI principles, reference architectures and experience in developing products for the physical infrastructure - to design solutions that meet clients' current needs and future requirements.
