MoCA joins CEDIA

Sep 14, 2010

SAN RAMON, Calif. -- The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA), the worldwide consortium for the home entertainment networking standard of the same name, has announced its membership in CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association. Membership is part of the Alliance's strategy of educating electronic system contractors about the technological and economic benefits of MoCA technology for moving high definition content around the home using already existing coaxial cabling in the home.

As MoCA notes, the home entertainment center is evolving into the home entertainment network. Participation in and support of CEDIA extends MoCA's reach into the home via a recognized and professional organization of installers and integrators.

"The relationship between MoCA and CEDIA is mutually beneficial," said Mike Ehlenberger, MoCA Chair of the Emerging Markets Task Force. "Retrofit environments are a key strategy for any ESC company. Working with CEDIA certified installers provides these installers and ESCs with an additional revenue stream while allowing MoCA-based products an additional channel into the home."

"We have achieved overwhelming success in the pay TV operator channel and hope to do the same in the installer community," added Rob Gelphman, Chair of the MoCA Marketing Work Group. "We intend to work very closely with the organization and its members via educational and brand awareness programs."

Recently, CEDIA nominated Actiontec Electronics' Ethernet over Coax MoCA Network Adapter as a finalist for Best New Product.
