On the Net - Cabling Installation & Maintenance

On the Net

Dec 1, 1995

Arlyn S. Powell, Jr.

Senior Associate Editor

This week we on the Cabling Installation & Maintenance editorial staff gathered around the computer of managing editor Catherine Varmazis to "ooh" and "aah" over the magazine`s first step into the electronic age -- our own home page on the Internet. Catherine and assistant editor Marcy Koff have worked hard to create this new resource for CI&M readers. In addition, there is a home page for CI&M`s sister publication, Lightwave, which focuses exclusively on fiber-optic technology.

The CI&M home page now includes a calendar of upcoming industry events, as well as a subscription card for the magazine and ordering information for the Cabling News newsletter and the Installer Tips Videos series. Very soon, Catherine promises, the CI&M home page will also provide new product write-ups, an editorial index for the first two years of the magazine and media buying information for advertisers.

The Lightwave home page currently has a calendar of industry events, industry news briefs, new product listings and a subscription form. Media buying information is soon to follow. In the planning stage for both magazines are hyperlinks to relevant companies and professional organizations.

In addition, CI&M`s recent design and installation features are being put up on BICSInet, the bulletin board of the Building Industry Consulting Service International Inc. (Tampa, FL), which will be hyperlinked to CI&M`s home page.

The Internet address of Cabling Installation & Maintenance is http://cim.pennwell.com. For Lightwave, it is http://www.light-wave.com.

We hope that you, our readers, will find good uses for these new resources, and that they will encourage you to be more interactive in your approach to the magazine. Nothing helps us more when it comes to serving your interests than hearing from you. Why don`t you send us an e-mail telling us what you`d like to see more of in the magazine? My e-mail address is arlynp@pennwell.com. Or, contact associate editor Barbara Thompson at barbarat@pennwell.com.
