ADC Telecommunications Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) has announced a major expansion of its wireless physical infrastructure capabilities with the acquisition of Solitra Oy (Kempele, Finland). Solitra Oy designs, manufactures and markets radio- frequency filters and other wireless base-station components and subsystems. Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs--Louisville, CO) and its member companies have created a task force of industry experts to help cable operators deal with enhanced-services issues. Enhanced services, such as digital video, high-speed data and telephony, are expected to be offered by many cable operators over the next few years, and will require specialized training in technical issues relating to digital transmission.
