UTP media filter - Cabling Installation & Maintenance

UTP media filter

Nov 1, 1996

Designed for use with 16/4-Mbit/sec token ring LANs, these UTP media filters provide filtering, balancing and impedance matching, while limiting the amount of radiated electrical energy to comply with FCC Class A regulations. The UTP 16/4 media filters attach to the token ring adapter cards via a DB-9-type interface, while an RJ-45-type plug provides direct access to the network cabling system. The Standard media filter, which is tril-certified, consists of filter circuitry in a plastic housing and a 9-pin D-Sub connector with thumbscrew-type locking hardware. An 8-foot, 2-pair cable exits the housing and terminates to an RJ-45-type plug. The Cableless media filter is similar to the Standard filter, but has an RJ-45 keyed modular jack exiting through the housing at 180.
