North Carolina`s Charlotte Convention Center will once again host Cabling Installation Expo. Sponsored jointly by Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazine (Nashua, NH) and bicsi (Tampa, FL), the second annual Expo will take place October 13 to 15, 1997.

For those installing voice, data, and video cabling systems, this year`s Expo theme is "Reach for Success!" The event will feature three days of training in the form of bicsi Cabling Workshops. The 28 workshop sessions will cover such topics as industry standards, small office/home offices, codes and rules, construction specifications, and Category 5 installations. bicsi will also offer its Cabling Installation and Registration Program, with classes being held at the installer and technician levels.

With more than 150 exhibits scheduled to date, the Expo will begin with a keynote address by Barbara Samson, the cofounder and senior vice president of Intermedia Communications, a Florida-based integrated telecommunications service provider. Samson also serves as Florida`s statewide chairperson for NetDay. Larry Csonka, who was an all-pro running back for the Miami Dolphins in the early 1970s and was named the Dolphins` most valuable player in Super Bowl VIII, will give the closing address.

Also included in Expo`s agenda is the second annual Installer Tips Contest. To win the grand prize--a three-day, four-night vacation for two at a resort in Colorado`s Rocky Mountains, including deluxe accommodations, airfare, and a rental car--participants must submit an Installer Tip that provides a simple and innovative shortcut or cost-saving solution for problems related to cabling installation and maintenance. Second and third prizes will also be awarded.

Winning tips, as well as those suitable for publication, will be featured in future issues of Cabling Installation & Maintenance. Judging will take place on the final morning of the Expo show, and prizes will be awarded that afternoon. Contestants do not have to be present to win. Entry forms will be available in Expo registration packets, but can also be obtained from the magazine`s editorial offices by contacting Gladys Haberman at (603) 891-9239 or by e-mail: gladysh@pennwell.com.

Other Expo events include a Product Forum in which exhibitors present product demonstrations throughout the show. The forum will give attendees a chance to see the latest technologies and cutting-edge products in action.
