Chris Walsh has been appointed national account manager at Riser Management Systems (Burlington, VT), a telecommunications engineering, consulting, and riser management services company. Formerly, he worked at nynex, mci, and US West. Rob Donahue and Mark Brown have joined the wireless and telecommunications teams, respectively. Each brings more than 15 years` experience to Riser.

James Berry has been named director of fiber operations at Alcatel Telecommunications Cable (atc--Claremont, NC), a fiber-optic cable products manufacturer. Previously, he served as plant manager, fiber-optic cable development manager, and engineering manager at various atc facilities.

Telect Inc. (Liberty Lake, WA) is moving its manufacturing operations for its proprietary products group to a new 120,000-square-foot facility at 2111 N. Molter Road, Liberty Lake, WA 99019. The Diversified Products Group, cable assemblies operation, and the Control Products Group will remain in their present locations.

Edward Breen, president of NextLevel Systems Inc.`s (Chicago, IL) Broadband Networks Group since February 1996, has been named acting chief executive after the resignation of Richard Friedland as chairman and chief executive. Previously, Breen was executive vice president of terrestrial systems for General Instrument Corp.
