Power Sum, GigaMax, and eXtreme cabling systems are complete frame-to-station connecting hardware systems comprising new QuickPort connectors, patch panels, and patch cords. The three units are designed to meet channel specifications for Category 5 power sum, proposed Category 5E, and proposed Category 6/Class E attenuation-to-crosstalk-ratio performance. The systems feature snap-in-style connectors that can be used with Leviton Telcom`s existing line of QuickPort field-configurable connector housings to allow backward compatibility. They also are covered by Leviton`s lifetime product and performance warranties when they are installed with approved cable by a company-certified installer.

The Power Sum Cabling System, according to Leviton, is for end-users seeking a standardized system to support high-speed applications beyond Category 5, such as 1000Base-T and 622-megabit-per-second Asynchronous Transfer Mode. This system has been fully power-sum-tested to meet the tia/eia-568a standards for crosstalk and attenuation.

For increased performance, the company reports that its GigaMax Cabling System exceeds channel performance for the proposed Category 5E specifications and surpasses proposed specifications on near-end crosstalk and attenuation.

To get maximum headroom for video over unshielded twisted-pair cable applications such as boardroom video and teleconferencing systems, Leviton offers the eXtreme Cabling System. The company says the system exceeds proposed draft specifications for Category 6/Class E channels by performing at twice the bandwidth capacity of a standard Category 5 system. The cabling system also can handle applications beyond 1000Base-T.
