The crimp Enterprise Server 5.0 software package is a 32-bit application that uses relational database software and computer-aided design (CAD) graphics technology to help information-technology professionals document and manage networks. The package can be used for voice systems and local-area and wide-area networks, including structured cabling systems and active networking equipment like hubs and routers.
Version 5.0 of crimp, which stands for Connectivity, Routing, and Infrastructure Management Program, provides five views of the database: circuit trace, browser, dictionary, graphics, and navigator; a user-defined data structure; an AutoCAD graphics engine; user-defined icons; multi-select and drag-and-drop support for all operations; a graphical-user interface for browsing data over the Web; and customizable report generators. The package accommodates job-specific functions and processes, giving users the ability to design new windows, add buttons, change the menu and toolbar, and define new actions for dragging and dropping. The software can also be linked to users` existing applications. Single-user and multiuser licenses are available.
Minimum system requirements include 64 megabytes of memory, 300 Mbytes of free space, a Windows 95 operating system, and Internet Explorer 4.0 software for stand-alone applications. For server applications, 128 Mbytes of memory and a Windows NT 4.0 SP3 operating system are required.
