CommScope adds four Cat 6A/Class EA panels to 10GBASE-T UTP line

Mar 22, 2011

CommScope, supplier of cabling and connectivity infrastructure for communications networks, has introduced four new Category 6A/Class EA panels to its SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Solutions line.

With updated performance levels in each of these new panel designs, GigaSPEED X10D UTP Solution capabilities have been enhanced. Customers can now have the freedom to design 100-meter channels as well as short channel configurations with 1-meter cords and 3- or 5-meter cables, offering maximum flexibility and minimizing excess cable and patch cord lengths for data center applications. This design freedom, combined with improved installation time, makes deploying infrastructure for 10GBASE-T simpler.

“The new GS6 panels offer additional network design flexibility and intelligence options supporting 10G BASE-T over UTP,” said Morgan Kurk, senior vice president, Enterprise Intelligent Buildings, CommScope. “Our SYSTIMAX solutions include iPatch or iPatch-ready options, allowing users to choose intelligence upfront or upgrade to intelligence later as their needs change.”

The four panels—1100GS6, 1100GS6 Angled, 1100GS6 iPatch and PATCHMAXGS6—are all built on CommScope’s new Evolve panel platform. The platform is an intelligent and intelligent-ready modular panel system designed to accommodate various connector designs including the unshielded multi-connector modules used in these new panels.

The new GS6 panels meet or exceed TIA 568-C Category 6A and ISO/IEC 11801 Category 6A component specifications, and GigaSPEED X10D UTP channels meet or exceed the TIA 568-C Category 6A and ISO/IEC 11801 Class EA channel specifications.

As the new Category 6A/Class EA unshielded panels are built on the Evolve panel platform, iPatch Intelligent panels can be included and upgrades to Intelligence in the field are easy, without any network disruptions. By integrating CommScope’s network intelligence solution with these panels, customers now have complete visibility and control of their unshielded physical layer infrastructure, according to the company.
