CommScope expands fiber system's LC capabilities for better SAN connectivity

Mar 3, 2011

To help data center managers optimize IT environments for SAN applications, CommScope has expanded its Systimax 360 Ultra-high Density (UHD) Fiber Solution to incorporate multiple LC pass-through panels as well as splicing capabilities. The system now accommodates up to 144 LC connections in a 1U space by either splicing on LC pigtails or using existing LC terminated trunk cables.

While also supporting MPO pre-terminated solutions, the company notes that support for factory- and field-termination preferences allows for use of a network infrastructure’s existing LC terminated infrastructure or even unterminated fiber cables to to achieve higher patch panel port densities for SAN connectivity applications.

David Hall, manager, Data Center Applications, CommScope Enterprise Solutions, comments, "With the new additions to our Systimax 360 UHD fiber solution, data center operators who are not currently deploying MPO pre-terminated solutions can still manage their physical layer architectures and address rapidly increasing port densities.”
