HDBaseT Alliance to demo whole-home HDBaseT network at CES 2011

Dec 10, 2010

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- HDBaseT Alliance, the cross-industry alliance formed to promote and standardize HDBaseT technology for whole-home distribution of uncompressed high-definition (HD) multimedia content, announced it will demonstrate its HDBaseT technology as a whole-home networking solution at International CES 2011 in Las Vegas, Jan. 6-9, 2011.

The demonstration will showcase an HDBaseT network, connecting several devices between a living room, bedroom and home office setting using a single LAN cable.

“HDBaseT is an all-in-one technology that capitalizes on an inexpensive, familiar cable and connector already installed in many homes, and is an ideal solution for the whole-home network of today,” said Ariel Sobelman, president of the HDBaseT Alliance.

Sobelman added, “This technology cuts down the bundle of cables and brings together a home’s CE devices into a feature-rich, yet efficient, network. HDBaseT enables a whole-home experience with the flexibility and features consumers demand, while using a single, long-reach LAN cable with RJ45 connectors, already common in households for its Ethernet use.”

The Alliance will demonstrate how an HDBaseT-connected home can send "the 5Play feature set" (HD video, audio, Internet, controls and 100 watts of power) via a single, 100 m/328 ft LAN cable.

In the live demonstration, the HDBaseT network will push content using a media hub controller, such as a personal smart phone. The living room, bedroom and home office settings will provide visitors with a hands-on experience of the HDBaseT-connected home. Using one controller, visitors will push content from a 3D Blu-ray player, game console and personal computer to strategically placed displays.
