Temperature-hardened demarcation device is optimized for wireless backhaul, PBX, metro Ethernet

MANSFIELD, Mass. -- Telco Systems (Foxboro, MA) a provider of Carrier Ethernet access platforms, announced the expansion of its demarcation product line with the T-Marc 254H, a device designed to deliver converged services for commercial and mobile applications over the metro Ethernet network. The device is temperature-hardened for outdoor cabinet installation in environments ranging from -40° to 65°C with over-heat protection and sub-zero cold start. It has also been optimized for PBX and wireless backhaul by supporting the seamless transport of TDM frames over Ethernet and clock synchronization via PTP (IEEE1588v2).

Supporting a wide range of OAM and service assurance tools, the Company’s T-Marc demarcation devices are designed to alleviate the operational challenges that providers face when deploying Ethernet. Advanced Layer 2 Networking using Telco Systems’ AccessEthernet allows total flexibility in deployment and delivery of Ethernet services. Physical and logical channel networking capabilities provide bandwidth profiles, advanced traffic classes and complete control over how subscriber traffic is transported and managed across a service provider’s network.

T-Marc 254H also enables backhaul providers to offer a hybrid backhaul solution built on a packet-based technology capable of supporting the growing demand for data services while allowing integration of TDM to support legacy mobile voice or PBX services. The T-Marc 254H is MEF 9, MEF 14 and MEF 18 compliant, supporting strong OAM tools, advanced switching capabilities, traffic management, L2VPNs, as well as integration of legacy TDM services. TDM transport options include pseudo wire (PWE3) encapsulation over Ethernet, IP and MPLS.

To ensure reliable handoff of TDM frames between cell sites, the T-Marc 254H supports multiple timing modes with including Precision Timing Protocol (PTP) IEEE 1588v2 and includes four E1/T1 ports and four 100 Base-T ports and two Gigabit Ethernet SFP-based uplinks.
