Seminar highlights fiber performance, cost issues

Apr 25, 2011

A seminar to be delivered via the web by Fluke Networks and Panduit, and hosted by Cabling Installation & Maintenance, will provide information on how owners of fiber-optic networks can maximize those networks' performance while minimizing costs. The seminar will be delivered live at 1:00 pm EDT on Wednesday, April 27, then available for on-demand viewing for a period of six months.

Harley B. Lang, marketing manager with Fluke Networks and Robert Reid, senior product development manager with Panduit's Network Connectivity Group, will deliver the presentations. A description of the seminar states that new high-speed data transport (HSDT) standards such as the IEEE 802.3ba 40/100-Gbit Ethernet specifications as well as ANSI FC-PI-5 16-Gbit/sec Fibre Channel place new and challenging restrictions on the fiber cable plant's optical power budget. Users deploying these systems, or others designing networks for future high-speed data, require that connectivity, fiber media and test systems deliver the highest probability of installation success, at the lowest cost, against these tightened restrictions. The information delivered in this seminar will provide how-to information on achieving such success.

Seminar attendees will be eligible to receive one continuing education credit (CEC) for the following professional designations from BICSI: RCDD, Installer, Technician, RITP and Certified Trainer.

You can find out more about the seminar here or register for it here.
