Draka standardizes MaxCap Bendbright in all 50-micron OM3 / OM4 multimode fiber cable

Apr 20, 2010

Claremont, North Carolina -- Draka Communications Americas announced that it will exclusively begin to offer its bend insensitive MaxCap Bendbright fiber as the default fiber standard in OM3 and OM4 multimode cables. Furthermore, Draka also announces it will begin to supply its 150 meter, 10 gigabit laser optimized fiber as the default fiber standard in all OM2 multimode cables.

Draka says its cables incorporating bend insensitive fiber demonstrate improved performance, are more forgiving during installation, and provide savings opportunities to the customer. Bend insensitive fiber cables bring immediate benefits to the user through: simplified cable routing; reduced attenuation when exposed to tight bends and pressure points; increased cable density in trays and conduit as a result of a smaller diameter cable; reduced cable rework due to tight bends or pressure points on the cable; and improved optical performance.

Data center, campus, LAN, and enterprise projects often encounter tight bends and restricted space requirements. Draka says its MaxCap Bendbright products can tolerate tight bend conditions while delivering excellent optical performance. In addition to the OM3 and OM4 announcement, Draka also announces that its OM2 multimode fiber will perform to a 150 meter 10 gigabit laser optimized performance standard as part of its default product offering.

"Today's announcements are a major step forward for both our customers and Draka. Draka continues to demonstrate its technical leadership by offering laser optimized, bend insensitive 50 micron fiber cables as the standard product offering. Draka's MaxCap Bendbright OM3 and OM4 fibers are world class in their performance and allow our customers to utilize the latest technology in designing their systems to maximize space and optical budgets," said Jack Rosko, Market Manager for Private Networks.

Draka's Maxcap Bendbright multimode fiber meets or exceeds the OM2, OM3 and OM4 industry standards for high-bandwidth, laser-optimized multimode fiber.
