CommScope adds unshielded twisted pair cable to 10GbE Uniprise line

Nov 9, 2010

RICHARDSON, Texas -- CommScope has added the Uniprise Ultra 10 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) structured cabling system to its portfolio of 10 gigabits per second (Gbp/s) infrastructure solutions for communications networks. The Uniprise Ultra 10 UTP system joins the Uniprise Ultra 10 Foiled Twisted Pair (FTP) copper and Uniprise Ready fiber systems for 10 Gb/s media solutions.

Ideal for  environments that are heavily adopting 10 Gb/s applications -- including small-to-medium-sized enterprises, data center-equipped intelligent buildings, local and municipal government buildings, and primary and secondary educational campuses -- the company says the Ultra 10 UTP/FTP solutions enable IT managers to stay within budgets while also improving network performance.

CommScope says the Uniprise Ultra 10 systems extend bandwidth without degrading internal channel transmission performance by suppressing interference from external pairs to eliminate alien crosstalk at frequencies up to 500 MHz. The Uniprise Ultra 10 UTP solution debuts in the North American Region and will be introduced gradually on a global scale in all regions where Uniprise products are offered.

Demand for bandwidth-intensive applications like streaming video, online media sharing, and virtual file storage that require 10 Gb/s connectivity has been growing at a faster rate than most mid-size enterprise IT budgets.

"At CommScope, we understand that no business is immune to cost constraints. Our Uniprise Copper Solutions strive to meet budget needs without sacrificing the quality, reliability and performance of our standards-compliant telecommunications technology," said Morgan Kurk, senior vice president, Enterprise Intelligent Buildings, CommScope. "By adding the Uniprise Ultra 10 system to the Uniprise family of 10 Gb/s solutions, we can now offer our customers a complete range of end-to-end solutions for improving bandwidth, data throughput and network efficiency into tomorrow."
