Siemon's Valerie Maguire elected vice chair of TIA TR-42 telecommunications cabling systems engineering committee

Valerie Maguire, Global Sales Engineer for Siemon, has been elected as Vice-Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee. TIA TR-42 and its thirteen subcommittees develop standards for copper and optical fiber cabling infrastructure used in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings, as well data centers.

The Engineering Committee is responsible for the development of the ANSI/TIA-568-C family of standards, in addition to standards addressing copper and optical fiber cabling component (e.g. cables, connectors, and cable assemblies) performance, installation and field testing methods, and administration requirements.

Maguire has been serving in leadership positions of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Systems Subcommittee since 2001 and is document editor for multiple developing TIA Standards. Maguire has actively participated in TIA standards formulation since 1995.

Valerie Maguire holds the position of Global Sales Engineer at Siemon. Ms. Maguire received her B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Connecticut and actively participates in working groups responsible for the development and publication of telecommunications standards. Ms. Maguire's expertise is focused in the fields of balanced twisted-pair and optical fiber telecommunications cabling, connecting hardware, and cables.

She is Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42 Telecommunications Cabling Systems Engineering Committee, Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.7 Copper Cabling Subcommittee, and TIA TR-42 appointed liaison to IEEE 802.3. She has authored over 45 technical articles and engineering papers, holds one U.S. Patent, and received the 2008 Harry J. Pfister Award for Excellence in Telecommunications.
