Four-port PoE midspan supports Gigabit

Jul 8, 2010

The new four-port 802.3af-compliant Power over Ethernet midspan from Microsemi supports Gigabit Ethernet data transmission. The PowerDsine PD-3504G midspan is described by its maker as compact and cost-effective, particularly useful in small to medium-sized businesses and other low-density networks.

Microsemi says the midspan's compact size -- it is less than 6 inches wide so three units can fit inside a 19-inch rack -- as well as its performance and cost will simplify PoE deployment for smaller users.

Here are the PD-3504G's main features.

  • IEEE 802.3af compliance
  • 15.4W delivery per port
  • 10/100/1000Base-T support
  • EMI Class B support (What's that?)
  • Less than 6 inches wide
  • Ability to power pre-standard devices including Cisco equipment
  • Per-port, concise LED visibility
