Snake Tray intros solar panel cable racks

Jul 22, 2010

Snake Tray has introduced its Solar Snake Tray, billed as a weatherproof, hand-bendable cable conveyance that quickly and securely carries DC circuitry from solar panels to their terminations.

The company says the patented stainless steel product incorporates a “lobster trap principle” which allows outdoor-rated cable to be effortlessly and securely installed while protecting it from hurricane force winds. The Solar Snake Tray has built-in mounting rings (called “Snake Eyes”) spaced every four inches along the conveyance for easy installation. Eight-foot sections join together with a single stainless steel connector requiring only a hex key to secure.

Snake Tray says its cable management products have experienced extensive testing in both indoor and outdoor environments including large government, aerospace and military installations, mining and train tunnels and challenging industrial applications worldwide.

The company says the Solar Snake Tray was developed from needs among solar plant installers to save time and cost on every installation. The product has saved scores of hours on Snake Tray’s own factory solar installation, maintains the company, which will produce over 110% of the manufacturing firm’s electrical power needs in 2010 -- making Snake Tray one of the first hard goods manufacturer to operate purely on self-generated solar power.

Snake Tray also offers a variety of installation brackets to interface with any brand of solar panels racks, including the ballasted, all-weather Solar Snake Racks, which can also installed on the company's factory solar array.
