General Cable (NYSE: BGC) recently announced that its board of directors has appointed Ms. Sallie B. Bailey to serve as an independent director of the company until she stands for election at the company's 2014 annual meeting of stockholders, and until her successor is duly appointed and qualified. Bailey will serve on the board’s Audit, Compensation and Corporate Governance committees. Her appointment increases the company’s board to seven members.
Bailey is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation (NYSE: LPX), a manufacturer of engineered wood building products for residential, industrial and light commercial construction. She has served in that position since December 2011. Baily previously served as vice president and chief financial officer of Ferro Corporation, a global specialty materials company, from January 2007 to July 2010. Before joining Ferro, she held senior management positions of increasing responsibility with The Timken Company, a global producer of engineered bearings and alloy steel from 1995 to 2006, lastly as senior vice president, finance and controller. Earlier in her career, she was an audit supervisor for Deloitte & Touche and assistant treasurer at Tenneco, Inc.
