8-port HDMI splitter/extender leverages Cat 6 cabling
NTI's new video splitter simultaneously distributes audio/video signals from an HDMI source to up to eight HDMI displays.
Network Technologies Inc. (NTI) has introduced an 8-port HDMI splitter/extender device that operates over Category 6 media. The new video splitter simultaneously distributes video and audio signals from an HDMI source to up to eight HDMI displays, located up to 130 feet away, using Cat 6 UTP cabling.
NTI says the 8-port HDMI splitter/extender consists of two components: the company's VOPEX-C6HD-8LC HDMI broadcast unit, which connects to the host video source, and its ST-C6HD-R-130LC remote unit for each remote display. The splitter/extender platform supports HDTV resolutions to 1080p and computer resolutions to 1920x1200, and is compliant with HDMI and HDCP 1.1 standards.
The unit offers two selectable EDID options, which can either detect pass-through EDID from the first HDMI display, or an available built-in EDID resolution can be selected. Users can also select between 8-bit or 12-bit color, which respectively extend the remote unit to 130 feet and 50 feet.
