5 reasons to use mutli-wire punchdown tools
According to Fluke Networks, cabling technicians can gain efficiency and ergonomic benefits by using these newer tools.
In an article that will be published in an upcoming issue of Cabling Installation & Maintenance magazine, Fluke Networks' marketing product line manager Paul Alexander describes five reasons installers can benefit from upgrading their punchdown tools from the single-wire variety to the multi-wire variety.
These tools, which are available from multiple sources including Fluke, "make a molehill out of the mountain of today's cabling options," Alexander says. (Fluke's multi-wire punchdown-tool offering, the JackRapid, is pictured at the bottom of this page.)
Here are the five reasons Alexander says installers should consider investing in such a tool.
- Terminate more cable
- Speed installation
- Increase accuracy
- Reduce fatigue
- Improve usability
The article provides detail on each of the bullet points listed above. The author sums up by saying, "Each technician or operation should evaluate their workload and what formats of cable they frequently encounter in order to determine which tools will best suit their work."
