Components in the Extended Frequency System (efs) include patch panels, outlet jacks, station cords, and patch cords. They exceed all Telecommunications Industry Association (Arlington, VA) specifications for Enhanced Category 5 connectivity. Jacks are available in T568A or T568B wiring configurations and incorporate the manufacturer`s Zcomp double-balanced compensation technology. Patch panels are available in 12- to 120-port configurations and feature 110 connecting technology. They exceed the pending Enhanced Category 5 specifications for far-end crosstalk, near-end crosstalk, attenuation, return loss, and balance.

Patch cords come in 2-, 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, 10-, and 15-foot standard lengths. Other lengths are available by special order. They come standard with a yellow jacket and color-coded strain-relief boots. The efs patch cords are manufactured using a proprietary process in which the conductors are set in the modular plug before termination. The manufacturer says this process ensures precise control of modular plug-and-jack-mated performance for extended-frequency operation.
